I would love to write a whole children’s book on the Great Barrier Reef or coral reefs in general, so if anyone knows of a publisher interested in these topics, please contact me.

For the April issue of AppleSeeds, I interviewed Disney star Laura Marano. What a delightful actor!  You can read the interview here.

Spotlight #10

The November issue of AppleSeeds is devoted to restaurants and I got to be a foodie. I interviewed the delightful Cris Comerford, White House Executive Chef. You can read the article here.

Spotlight #9

I wrote a piece on the Work-in-Progress blog, in which I interviewed the inspiring Eliza King. Eliza is one of the most inspiring people I know. Eliza has a major handicap (she’s severely vision impaired) and yet Eliza takes on challenges that full-vision people would find trying. What amazes me about Eliza is that she announces a change she wants in her life and then manifests it. In the interview, I asked Eliza how she does it.

You can read the piece here

Spotlight #8

The March issue of AppleSeeds (a wonderful children’s magazine) is devoted to weather. I wrote an article on the National Hurricane Center and hurricanes. You can read the article here.

I also wrote an article with fun weather experiments. You can read that one here.

Counting AppleSeeds, Cobblestone Magazine Group has published a series of six children’s magazines on the topic of weather. They are giving away a free PDF of all six magazines (280 pages) to anyone who requests it. Request a copy at www.cricketmag.com/storm.) It’s a great educational resource!

Spotlight #7

The January issue of the children’s magazine APPLESEEDS is devoted to rainforests. I was the consulting editor to the issue and I wrote two articles for it.

You can read my articles here and here.

You can order the whole rainforest issue here. It’s a fun resource on rainforest. I loved working on this assignment.

Spotlight #6

I wrote a blog piece on how to silence the saboteur or internal critic. Often the worst critic is the voice in one’s own head. You can read the piece here on the Writer’s Center Blog or here on Work-in-Progress blog.

Spotlight #5

The children’s magazine APPLESEEDS has devoted an issue to John Muir, one of my heros. I wrote the opening article for APPLESEEDS on John Muir, “Keeping Close to Nature’s Heart.”

You can read it here.

Spotlight #4

I wrote a guest blog piece on why we shouldn’t be afraid of facing the “impossible” in writing and otherwise. The piece “Doing the Impossible” was posted on the Writer’s Center blog and Work-in-Progress blog. You can read it on the blogs:
